The network of independent cinemas in Spain
PROMIO is the Association of Independent Exhibitors of Spain, a network that brings together movie theaters with a clear cultural and social vocation. It was born with the objective of giving voice and structure to those who understand cinema not only as entertainment, but also as a collective, diverse and accessible experience.

PROMIO's trajectory is marked by the collaborative work of theaters throughout the country that share the same vision: to strengthen independent film exhibition, promote the diversity of views and facilitate access to cinema to broad and heterogeneous audiences. We defend an exhibition model rooted in the territory, connected to its social context and committed to audience development.
PROMIO acts as an interlocutor of the sector before public administrations, cultural agents and the audiovisual industry, defending the interests of the associated cinemas with rigor and transparency. We work to improve exhibition conditions, strengthen the economic sustainability of theaters and accompany their adaptation to the current challenges of the sector.
Within this framework, PROMIO maintains active links with international reference networks such as CICAE (Confédération Internationale des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai) and Europa Cinemas, participating in spaces for exchange, reflection and cooperation at European and international level. This connection makes it possible to transfer best practices, strengthen the presence of Spanish independent cinema in the international arena and align the work of the association with the standards and debates of the sector at the global level.
PROMIO also promotes the transfer of knowledge among exhibitors and fosters transversality, establishing links with festivals, distributors, educational centers and other cultural agents, with the aim of broadening the social impact of independent cinema and reinforcing its role as a cultural space of reference.
